Calendar Art

We have now finished our awesome calendar art for this year. We focused on aboriginal art in term 2 and painted some amazing pictures, so we thought we would make our calendars in the style of aboriginal art too.  The calendars are now on display on the windows of Rm 3. Please have a look at your child's artwork and  don't forget to order a calendar!

Yr 3 and 4 speech finals

The Yr 2-3 speech finals took place yesterday in the hall. Well done to everyone who was chosen to go to the finals. There were so many good speeches that Mrs Holley and Miss Fothergill had a hard time deciding on 3rd, 2nd and first place winners.
Congratulation to Emma ( Cats rule dogs drool) and Riley (Save the dolphins)  from Room 3 for making it into the finals and representing our class. An extra big congratulation to Riley who came 2nd place :)

 Riley
 Emma

The Yr 4 speech finals took place today and both Jordan and Alexandra from Room 3 took part. Both gave brilliant speeches that had a strong persuasive messages within them. Alexandra's speech was about 'why you shouldn't smoke' and Jordan's speech was about 'saving wild animals'.
A big congratulations to Alexandra who came first place!

Persuasive Arguments

I think the troll should let the billy goats cross the bridge.
Firstly, the grass needs to be short. Otherwise it will be really messy and long.
Another reason why is that they fertilise the grass, so there’s lots of grass. They fertilise the ground to make grass grow.
Lastly, the troll is mean and does not own the bridge. He needs to be nice and let the billy goats cross the bridge.
That’s why I think the billy goats should be allowed to cross the bridge.

This persuasive writing is about why the troll shouldn’t let the three little billy goats cross the bridge in the story ‘The Billy Goats Gruff’.

Firstly, the troll shouldn’t let the goats cross the bridge because he will have to pick up all the poo they make. Goats usually go toilet when they are eating so they goats will end up making a mess on the field.

Secondly, the troll is trying to protect his family. The goats might go toilet on the field and the troll’s family could step in it!

Thirdly, the goats could be to big and fat, they could destroy the bridge! Goats are usually big and sometimes fat. Their weight could destroy the bridge.

Finally, the troll is trying to protect the field. The goats could eat the flowers and I know that lots of people like flowers. You don’t want a goat to eat your flowers!

That is the reason why the troll shouldn’t let the billy goats cross the bridge.

I think the troll should let the three little billy goats go over the bridge.
Firstly, I think the troll should let the three little billy goats over the bridge because the troll doesn’t own the bridge. The troll doesn’t own the bridge and he has no right to keep them from crossing.
Secondly, the troll should let the three little billy goats over the bridge because it’s kind to let them over the bridge. The the three little billy goats might need some food for their dinner.
Lastly, the troll should let the three little billy goats over the bridge because they might want to have a run around out in the meadow for their daily exercise.
That’s why I think the troll should let  the three little billy goats over the bridge because the troll doesn’t own the bridge, they need some dinner, and they want to run around the meadow.

I believe that Hahei is the best holiday place to go to in New Zealand.
Firstly, Hahei has nice shops because they have different toys like funny pens.
Secondly, at night the breeze blows on your face and you can watch the people fishing in their boats.
Finally, Hahei has the best fish ‘n’ chips that I have ever tasted!
That’s why I think that Hahei is the best place in New Zealand.

I believe the Mangawhai Northland is the best holiday place in New Zealand to go to.
Firstly, Langs Beach, Waipu Beach and the surf beach are the three best beaches in New Zealand. In summer the waves are as tall as my mum and dad standing on top of each other and as powerful as John Cena.
Secondly, all the houses are full of lovely dining, bedding and furniture. The furniture is so comfy, so is the bedding. It makes me want to stay in bed all day!
Thirdly, the restaurants make the nicest lunch or dinner. The restaurants have great cooking and perfect dishes.
Finally, the golf course is the best golf course in the world, with other fun outdoor stuff to do. The only thing wrong with the golf course is the greens. They are crazy fast,  otherwise it’s fine.
That’s why I think that Mangawhai Northland is the best place in New Zealand to go to because of the great outdoors, awesome restaurants and perfect boogie boarding beaches.

I believe that Matarangi is the best holiday place to go to in New Zealand.
Firstly, there is a goldmine on the way to Matarangi. You get to keep all the gold you find.
Another reason why Matarangi is the best place in New Zealand, is that there are hundreds of hot water beaches and rock pools that you are allowed to swim in.
Thirdly, there are a lot of great fishing spots, especially by the rocks. You can catch snapper, trevally, red trevelly and even crayfish!
Finally Matarangi is the best holiday place in New Zealand because there are lots of walkways to explore. It’s like your going on a hike around the place.
That’s why I think Matarangi is the best holiday place in New Zealand because there are goldmines, hot water beaches, rock pools, great fishing spots and walkways.
